The Government of Punjab has taken a giant leap by introducing Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) for the issuance of death certificates across Punjab, Minister Health Punjab Dr. Yasmin Rashid
The computerized record of deaths will pave the way to formulate health policy in accordance with the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) which will help to reduce the morbidity and mortality, Minister Health Punjab Dr. Yasmin Rashid

POLICY AND STRATEGIC HEALTH UNIT (PSPU) Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab arranged an inauguration ceremony at University of Health Science Lahore regarding Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) which was chaired by Dr. Yasmin Rashid the Minister of Health Punjab. Punjab taking lead by introducing CRVS in government hospitals for coding the causes on Death Certificates as defined in International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), while coding of death causes on death certificates will be determined by trained and senior doctors.
On this occasion Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the minister of health Punjab said that their government is people centered and its prime focus is on health of the people. The data collected through CRVS system will be shared with local government and NADRA for effective and dedicated planning. The computerized record of deaths will pave the way to formulate health policy in accordance with the International Classification of Diseases ( ICD-10) which will help to reduce the morbidity and mortality, said Minister Health Punjab Dr. Yasmin Rashid. The program director PSPU Dr. Shagufta Zareen vouched for the quality assurance of CRVS system and particularly Coding on Death Certificates as per ICD-10. She further said that initially this coding of death certificate will be issued from hospitals and will be expanded to household level later on.
The technical advisor of CRVS Dr. Mursalin and Chief Health Officer from Planning Commission Mr. Asif also addressed the audience. The Vice Chancellor of University of Health Sciences Lahore thanked the distinguished chief guest, speakers and other invitees for their participation
