Policy and Strategic Planning Unit, P&SHC Department in collaboration with UNICEF organized a 5 days Quality Improvement Workshop in Lahore, Pakistan between 13th - 17th December, 2016. UNICEF engaged an international consultant and the model / package of hospital/health facilities improvement by WHO-SEARO, WHOCC and USAID ASSIST was used to build capacity of hospital team focusing on quality of care of mothers and newborns around the time of child-birth.
The main objectives of the workshop were:
To share global and regional experience on quality improvement care initiatives.
To provide orientation on Quality improvement process in hospital care for maternal and newborn health.
To identify actions for initiating hospital quality improvement process in the hospital at the provincial level followed by Country level within their national QI framework.
To track follow up for progress and any additional facilitation.
This workshop was attended by HCP (nurses, doctors and administrators from district Multan and Bahawalnagar and the three leading tertiary care hospitals in Lahore (Services Hospital. Mayo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital), representatives from PSPU, IRMNCH & Nutrition Program, Punjab Health Care Commission.
