Health Watch

This technology based monitoring and evaluation initiative was launched in 2012. PSPU formerly Punjab Health Sector Reforms Program (PHSRP), designed and piloted online monitoring program "Monitoring of the Monitors" in district Khanewal in collaboration with the World Bank's Pro-Active Governance initiative and International Growth Center Team based at Lahore University Management Sciences (LUMS). After its successful results, the program was rollout in 18 districts of Punjab in 2013. In 2014 the program was launched all over the Punjab with the collaboration of PITB. 

This initiative aims at empowering public health sector managers at district and provincial levels by providing them with timely, authentic, well tabulated information on status of health facilities in terms of HR, medicines, functionality of equipment, utilization of facilities etc. 

Around 200 Android-based smartphones were provided to the district Health Managers i.e. Chief Executive Officer (CEO), District Officer Health (DOH) and Deputy District Officer Health (DDOH) who have been tasked with the collection of performance related data from Basic Health Units, Rural Health Centers, Tehsil and District Headquarters in their respective tehsils and districts. The data submitted by these officers through the phones are being recorded on a website, known as the ‘Dashboard’. 

Main indicators captured are Doctors and other staff absenteeism, Stock out of Tablets, Injections, Syrups and other medicines, Non-Functional Equipment, No. of OPD Cases per Day, No. of Delivery Cases per Month, No. of Antenatal Cases per Month, Outlook and Displays
